Belmont Sport Exchange

On Wednesday the third of September. I toke the long trip up to Auckland for our Te Awamutu and Belmont’s annual sport exchange. It toke us about one and a half hours to get to mercer where we had lunch. Then about another one and a half hours until we got to Belmont Intermediate. On the way to Belmont Intermediate we went under a bridge and saw a person living under it everyone on the bus were excited and all stared until we couldn’t see him. Also on the way up we had the pleasure of Patrick, Deon, Aaron, Campbell and a few others singing. when we got there we put all our bags in a room up at their tech block then went down and lined up outside the hall. When we walked in we had the whole school singing and kind of dancing as we walked up the aisle. When we sat down we got a welcme in Maori from Belmont’s principal Mr Summerville, then Tyrone said something next one of their boys said smething and we then sang E Hara. I thought we were pretty loud as well. After they did soething elsethey then filled out and the billets came in to get us. My billet as called Hayley. We didn’t really talk much at school but at her house we did. When we got to Hayley’s house we had some afternoon tea. They had two Japanese people there that had lived there before the mum was called Hiromi and the son Hiroki. The father was back in Japan working and it was Huroki’s first time in New Zealand. We played out side nearly all afternoon and soon enough Hayley’s dad came home. His name was Andrew. After a while we went inside and played cadoo. At about 5:30 Hayley’s mum Adelle came home and then Hayley’s uncle and aunty came and also her nanna. For dinner we had fish and chips and watched Cadet Kally as we ate. After that all finnished we said goodbye to evreyone and went to bed. The next day we woke up and got ready for school we got to school by 8:30 and went to the hall. One of our teachers Mr Denise was shocked that there school started at 8:40 and had organised for the bus to take us to Ice skating to come at 9:20 so we had to wait a while. When the bus finally came we climbed aboard and left for the Ice skating rink. When we got there it was frezzing and silly me I hadfwore  shorts. I fell over a total of 5 times when I was there and wasn’t the best at Ice skating. We were all relieved to get outside in the warmth and we piled back onto the bus again. Soon enough we were back at school and had lunch and got ready for sport. For basketball we had to play against boys because Mr denise had mucked up so we played mixed teams and the boys were a bit greedy. In the end of the whole competition we won 8 and a half to 6 and a half. After school my billets family let me take there camera and I toke photo’s of what I wanted in devonport. I toke alot of photo’s of the sky tower because I had never seen it bafore. We also went to a dairy and got a two and a half scoop Ice cram and went to there chocolate place and got to choose a chocolate my one was mint flavoured. Afer that we went up mount Vic and saw Piri on the way up and Patrick and deon at the top. Patrick and Deon were sliding down the side of mount Vic on cardboard and i had a couple of tries. For dinner we had Subway then got ready for the disco. The disco was fun and I had and I had an awesome time. After the disco we toke a bit more picturs of the sky tower in the dark and went up mount vic again{We couldn’t get up it though}. When we got home we had se chips and went to bed. In the mourning I gave my hosts a present and said thank you heaps. They gave me a disc with all my pictures on and a soccer ball. When I left everyone hugged me and said goodbye. We had to go to our billets class room. Then at 9:30 we went into their hall for a final assembly. They sit in their houses. They showed a film and both head students said a bit. Our head student Angus then went up and said a few things. They gave us a present then sang their school song. At the end end of the assembly we sang build me up buttercup. Then we had our morning and after that all grabbed our bags and climbedonto the bus. We stopped at mercer again to have lunch and swap buses. It was a long trip home and lots of  people fell asleep. Finally we were back at school and everyone was happy to get off the bus mainly becausesomebody had farted and it stunk but also because we were finally home. Mum picked me up soon and I went home and fell asleep and sleep for ages. The End

Saturday Netball

Guess what? We came second in the Te Awamutu Netball centers C grade competition. We were up at half time to the TAS Spartans, but then they pulled through. In the end they won 24-19. It was the hardest game we had ever had and we tried our very best. I got lots of intercepts and played the hardest game I could. I had the hardest player on court as my GD but that didn’t matter. All that matter was that i had fun and I did. At the end of the game it was a bit stink that we lost, but we looked at the happy side. We had come second!! We waited there till prize giving. At prize giving we had to wait a while until we got to go up. Then it was called out” And for runners up in C grade TAI Soldiers” We were so happy. We got lovely smelling candles as a prize and were buzzing about it. After prize giving we all went home and Mum brought me and Michelle a frozen Coke it was the best day ever.

Tibet/China

At the moment we are learning in our inquiry about Tibet, China and the Olympics. We have watched many interesting videos and have all got different point of views. I think that China isn’t showing the truth and is making everything looks beautiful. Even though most of the videos are the people who made there point of view. It still shows you heaps. You may have heard that in china there is a one child policy. But actually you can have more than one child if you live in an rural area. Also if you can have more than one child to help out on the farm. So the one child policy has major bends. Also about the one child policy. The male has to be 22 and the female has to be 20 to get a birth permit and gave a baby. Otherwise you have to sell your baby or pay the fine. We have also watched a video about the stolen children and how some people in china risk there lives to find other peoples children. There is heaps that people in the world don’t know about china so go onto you tube and you could learn something new.  

Basketball against The Tylers

Last night I played basketball for my team the Fruitloops. We were facing my cousins team The Tylers. At the start we were pretty even then The Tylers broke out and were up 24-2 at half time. We were fitter than most of their team and could run down the court faster but we couldn’t shoot. Soon it was 34-4 and we were getting toasted. I was the first person to be pulled up for three seconds in the keyhole and a foul on the shooter. In the end it was 64-11 to them and we didn’t care it was fun to play against them and I’ll beat their team next year after all we beat them last year. 

Netball(saturday)

On Saturday our netball team the TAI Soldiers were fighting to win against TAC 9C. They started off with five players so we should of took the lead but at quarter time it was 6-3 to them. It was then that we stepped up and shot into the lead. We were in the lead but then there came the contact. There was lots of contacts from the other team and our shooters after half time. We were still in the lead when it was three quarter time and we keep pushing our selves to get a higher amount of points even though the highest is three points. In the end we won 22-16 it was a really hard game and we are lucky we had good shooters that day. Now about the points you get 1 point if you loose between 3 points so if the score was 14-12 you wouldn’t get a point but if it was 14-11 you’d get 1 point. Then if you draw you get 2 points and if you win you get 3 points. We have won 2 games lost 1game and drew 1 game so we are looking forward to the other games this season. 

Belmont Year 7 Girls Netball

Last Friday I trialed for the Belmont year seven girls netball team to go to Belmont for two days to play netball. After the trial the teacher who was taking it miss Hagen said she would put the names up on the notice board for who got through to the second trial. It was Friday so on Monday when I got to school I checked and saw that I had got in. The next trial was on Tuesday which was tomorrow at lunch. However the next day it was raining so we couldn’t trial. On Thursday we trialed again and again she said she would put it up on the board. So today I looked and I had been put down as a reserve so if somebody pulled out I would be in. Unfortunatly I hadn’t got into the traveling team but I’m happy that I got into the second trial.

The Shoemaker and The Elves

On Friday night I went to the shoemaker and the elves with my mum and sister Michelle. It started off at 7:30pm and Slipper the leader of the elves was the first person to come onto stage. Then on came the elves. I noticed some of the people’s faces. There was Holly, Georgia, Cassie, Hayley, Hannah and Lydia was a little girl. There were alot of dances and singing in this play. They had one song that they sung alot and it was about happy shoes. You saw all the characters in the first act and the elves came in Mr. Buckles house at night and made shoes for him. Then Miss Silver the other shoemaker in town got suspicious because Mr. Buckle was selling his shoes to her customers and Miss Silver didn’t like that. One night Miss Silver went around to Mr. Buckles house and caught the elves making the shoes. She decided that the whistle slipper had was the secret to the magic and she grabbed Slipper and locked her up in her country house. The next day the elves went to Mr. Buckle and asked him if he had seen slipper Mr. Buckle, the elves, Lydia and Jingle( miss silvers worker) went out to find Slipper and they walked through the audience to find Slipper. Then Jingle suggested Miss Silver’s house in the country and the elves rushed over to it. They called out Slippers name and there was slipper, they found her. Holly and Hayley tied up Miss Silver and Naughty Nevel her other worker. Then the elves; Lydia, Nr. Buckle and Jingle sang the song about happy shoes. The  

Science Fair

On Monday the 30th of June I came to school with my science fair project. It was about metal and it’s ability to bend. On that Monday we were peer assesing our classes science fair boards and on Tuesday we were putting them into the ALC to get Judged. I was all ready on Tuesday. I had my metals that I used, my log book and science fair board with my information on it. We were the second block to put our boards in fist up was 10, 11and 12. A runner came and everyone took their boards to the ALC. I was one of the first people up there and got told to put my board  on a table near the end of the row. Then I went back to class. I was hoping my board would get a placing or at least get looked at to go into the final. On Wednesday afternoon Mrs Tyson came into our class and announced the placegetters. Unfortunately I didn’t get a placing. On Thursday after interval our class went to see the display and stuck onto the table underneath my board it said Division Finalist. I had actually got into the finals just hadn’t got a placing I thought. That got me in a really good mood and next year I’m going to try harder to get a placing.
